iNaaja: The Race for the 80th Student Government Association President

SGA Presidential Campaign - “iCarly” Concept

  • Led the development and execution of a student government presidential campaign centered around an iCarly-inspired concept, using nostalgia as a strategic tool to engage a Gen Z audience and differentiate the campaign.

  • To increase student engagement, build a memorable candidate brand, and connect with the student body through relatable and culturally relevant messaging.

  • The campaign leveraged nostalgia marketing, drawing inspiration from iCarly to create a recognizable and engaging brand identity. By tapping into a shared cultural reference, the campaign aimed to capture attention, foster familiarity, and encourage peer-to-peer sharing.

Interspersed throughout the campaign content are lighthearted ‘buffer’ moments—including a spontaneous dance clip—to reflect the creativity, humor, and personality at the center of the iCarly-inspired theme.

SGA Presidential Campaign - “iCarly” Concept (cont.)

  • Executed a cohesive campaign rollout that translated the iCarly theme across platforms, including:

    • Themed graphics and campaign visuals

    • Social media content designed for shareability and recognition

    • Messaging that balanced humor with clarity around the candidate’s platform

    • On-campus engagement aligned with the campaign’s tone and branding as well as election guideline rules

  • The campaign is built to create interaction cycles:

    1. Post content (policy, story, or fun clip)

    2. Students respond (comments, polls, reactions)

    3. Feedback is incorporated into future posts

    4. Students see their input reflected in the campaign

    This reinforces trust and participation.

  • In the final days, content shifts from storytelling to action:

    • Clear voting instructions

    • Platform recap

    • Urgency messaging

    • “Bring a friend” peer influence strategy

The goal is to convert awareness into turnout.
